Srinagar 18 May (KNB): ELFA International in collaboration with the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha J&K supported by UNICEF organised a one-day Training of Teachers (ToT) for Jammu & Kashmir Whole School Safety Program here at hotel Solar Residency in Srinagar on Tuesday.
In a handout issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB said that the event is a part of the Whole School Safety Programme being implemented by ELFA International in collaboration with the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha in all the districts of J&K.
Er. Deep Raj Kanethia (JKAS), Project Director, Samagra Shiksha was the Chief Guest of the event , Mehran Khan, CEO ELFA International, Danish Aziz, Educational Specialist UNICEF, Kashmir, Syed Fayaz, Coordinator, Samagra Shikhsha were also present at the event.
A total of 50 Master trainers drawn from various districts of Kashmir division were trained by the experts on Whole School Safety Programme and the various components thereof including Mental Health Psycho Social Support (MHPSS), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Gender Based Violence (GBV), Elimination of violence against Children (EVAC), Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), Explosive Ordinance Risk Education (EORE), CCES, WASH, etc.
Deep Raj Kanethia (JKAS) expressed his praise and appreciation for the program.
He expressed his appreciation for ELFA International for implementing programmes of this kind and organising such workshops which will inspire both government and other organisations to take the cue and follow in their footsteps.
He narrated incidents where lacunae in school safety have culminated in the tragedies of differing severity and damage. He also shared he has personally seen ELFA International tirelessly working in all corners of Jammu & Kashmir.
Resource persons/experts from ELFA International conducted session through a series of interactive exercises/techniques, resource persons included, Mr. Danish Aziz, Education Specialist, UNICEF, Mehran Khan, CEO ELFA International, Syed Areej Safvi, Project Coordinator, ELFA International Syed Azhar and Mir Sajad, Regional Coordinators, ELFA International, Kashmir and Jammu respectively.
The participants praised the event and expressed their satisfaction with the way event was conducted.
Speaking of the wholesome learning experience, they expressed their wish for such programs to be held regularly time and again.( KNB)
