Baramulla 17 May(KNB): As a prelude to elections for student representatives likely to be held tomorrow, Electoral Literacy Club of GHSS Delina in collaboration with physical education wing of the school held an informative session in the school auditorium. Worthy Principal Mr Abdul Rashid Ganai formally opened the session and threw light on the qualities of a good representative.
Senior lecturer Qazi Syed Sajad who is also head of the ELC in his keynote address acquainted guests and students about the need and importance of the session.
He said that such programmes are actually the practicals of the dynamic subject called political science. He assured that more such subject specific programmes will be held to make the teaching learning process lively. Vice Principal Mr Farooq Ahmad Shalla, (sn lecturer of botany) in his brief address advised students not to waste their precious votes. Senior Teacher Mr A.R Bakshi in his specific style advised students to take maximum benifits of such academic exercises. He appreciated the organisers of the event as well. Mrs Sumaya Lone, who is teaching education spoke about the qualities and duties of student representatives. Dr Firdous Ahmad Lone, HOD physical education wing of HSS Delina in his capacity as a resource person of the session beautifully enumerated the roles of different election functionaries viz RO, ARO, Sectoral Magistrates, Presiding officer, Polling Officers and so on. He also spoke at length about Ballot papers, Polling booths, voter identification, ethical voting etc.
It was indeed a very informative lecture of Dr Firdous, said a student Mr Shakir Ahmad Bhat. Informative audio video clips, relevant to programme which were beig played intermittently made the programme joyful.(KNB)
