Jammu, Sept 30 (KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has suspended 23 government officials and disengaged six ad-hoc employees for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines during the ongoing assembly elections.
Chief Electoral Officer P K Pole confirmed the action, citing complaints of government employees engaging in election campaigning and partisan activities.
“Twenty-three officials were suspended, and six contractual employees were disengaged for breaching MCC norms,” Pole said. “Additionally, 20 employees were transferred to other districts or tehsils due to allegations of biased behavior.”
This move follows similar action taken during the second phase of elections, where 21 government employees were suspended and five ad-hoc employees were disengaged.
The development comes ahead of the third and final phase of polling on October 1, covering 40 assembly segments across seven districts, including Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara.(KNB)
