Srinagar ,15 Feb(KNB): Crises arise between local entrepreneurs and mechanical engineering department (med) alleging that the council continues to drag its feet in addressing the business people’s accusations of tender irregularities and favouritism.
A delegation of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation alleged that to lodge the said tender “supply of furniture and other allied items for the conference/auditorium cum guest house” two tenders from a single company have been considered while rejecting other bids even without opening them.
While, e- tendering dated 24-12_2018 has been floated in rage of the CVC norms by mentioning particular brand, the said brand from Delhi has authorised more than two person’s as authorised dealers on simple photostat paper.
A local entrepreneur said, “the med approves only the tenders of outsiders instead of partnering with local entrepreneurs, we should be given opportunities for growth.We have come to the verge of shutting our units due to this wrong doing malpractice”.
He said that the huge plant and machinery of many manufacturing unit holders have been abandoned proving such corrupt practices to be tips of iceberg of tenders happening in the state.
Moreover, these so called authorised dealers are being boosted and assisted by Delhi based company who change them(authorised dealers) now and then to abet them in the selection process by aiding and availing officers.
He further said, “We appeal to governor of J& K(Mr Satya Pal Malik) to investigate such brash and immodest violations where our daily bread (livelihood) is being grabed by corrupt officers of the state.”
Another local entrepreneur said, “the brazen corruption happening in the state has raised to the roof while talk claims of transparent governance are being done. Moreover in this epoch of online tendering also the brazal violation of codal formalities is being done to accommodate the favoured people.”
Talking to Kashmir News Bureau, Chief Engineer Mechanical Engineering Department (med) said, ” We have specified the good brands like Godrej and other leading brands, we don’t have any leading brand among local entrepreneurs, we haven’t used their items yet and don’t know how good they are, we have relied only upon the three top brands which are running from aprox 20 years”
Talking about the two tenders from a single company he said that it cannot happen and assured that he will check up with the concerned Executive Engineer regarding the said matter.(KNB)
