Director Horticulture visit snowfall affected villages in Kupwara

Kupwara 06 Oct (KNB): Director Horticulture Kashmir today visited the snowfall affected villages in Mawer like Shahngri, Jahama, Audoora, Lach, Walrhama as so on for assessing the situation created due to the Fresh snow spell on apple orchards. Which results huge and Massive loss to the fruit growers.




The Director Horticulture of Kashmir was accompanied by MLA Er Rasheed along with a team of Officers and field functionaries of Horticulture including Teshildar dar Qalamabad.

During his visit, the Director took stock of the situation that created panic and major setback to the fruit growers and farmers of Said villages and gave on spot instructions to the concerned officers of the department for issuing an advisory on post-snow damages for remedial measures in order to safeguard the un-harvested fruit crops and damaged fruit trees.

He added, “We will take necessary steps to bring sign of relief for the people and also will submit the number of grievances to the Governor of J&K State.

Director Horticulture of Kashmir convened an emergency meeting with senior officers of the department to assess the extent of damage caused by Heavy rains and snow falling on different crops in several areas of Langate Qalamabad North Kashmir’s Kupwara District.

Field officers have been asked to conduct a detailed assessment of the losses and the chief Horticulture officers concerned have been asked to furnish crop and area wise damage report as soon as possible he added. (KNB)
