Baramulla 28 November (KNB): Director Agriculture Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today inaugurated Gulmarg Valley Farm (GVF) cluster’s first product ‘pickle’ in Baramulla.
The one-year-old GVF cluster comprises of more than 700 farmers, who work together with joint farming concept, with an aim to tackle the market on their own terms.
During the inauguration Altaf Aijaz Andrabi assured full support and advised the cluster to only use the local products in its making.
While speaking to Kashmir News Bureau the Head of GVF cluster and a qualified lawyer Masarat Kawsar said, “Within one year of the cluster inception, we have succeeded in launching GVF first product ‘pickles’ and several other products are in pipe line.”
She added, “We have provided free seedling in the area in order to promote ‘kitchen garden’ concept, so that the people get into the habit of growing healthy food and eat fresh.”
Masarat further said that introducing pickles, which is made here (Kashmir) with products grown here, is just one small step towards the bigger aim of our cluster.
“As a Natural Vegetable Grower, I just want the people to realise the importance of growing and making products without the use of any synthetic or harmful substances,” she said.
Director Agriculture Kashmir further appreciated Masarat Kawsar for her work, which is an example for other farmers to follow. (KNB)
