Srinagar 26 June (KNB): The Department of Urdu Kashmir University organized a two-day National Seminar on 26th and 27th of June 2024 entitled “Jammu Wa Kashmir main Urdu Afsana: Samt o Raftar”. At the onset, the computer laboratory of the Urdu department was inaugurated by the Vice chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan. On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Arts and Head Department of Urdu Prof. Arifa Bushra, Prof. Adil Amin Kak, Former Dean Faculty of Arts, Kashmir University, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie, Coordinator Iqbal Institute, Kashmir University, Prof. Ruby Zutshi, Principal Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Kashmir University, Prof. Zahida Jabeen, Head Department of Hindi, Kashmir University, Prof. Meraj Ahmad, Head Department of Sanskrit, Kashmir University, Dr. K.C. Sharma, Department of Sanskrit, Kashmir University, Prof. Jahangir Iqbal, Department of Persian, and other dignitaries were also present.
Later on, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nilofer Khan, presided over the seminar’s inaugural session held at EMMRC auditorium, Kashmir university.
Vice Chancellor congratulated the Urdu department on the computer lab’s inauguration and stated that with this kind of initiatives, the department will link with technology and have plenty of opportunities to move forward in a new way. She impressed upon the department to introduce innovative learning strategies and launch fresh curricula with advanced technologies.
Prominent short story writer Vehshi Syed was the guest of honour. While the prominent poet and lexicographer Prof. Shafaq Sopori gave the keynote address. Prof. Aslam Jamshed Puri of Meerut University and Sagheer Afraheem of Aligarh University shared their views online. Prof. Arifa Bushra, Dean Faculty of Arts and Head Department of Urdu, has extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the distinguished guests. In addition, she outlined the objectives and significance of the seminar.
Computer lab was named after the renowned poet of Kashmir Prof. Hamidi Kashmiri who has served the university of Kashmir in many capacities including Former Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir.
While emphasizing the significance of computer she said “The internet in today’s technology age is pivotal, serving as the backbone of global communication, information sharing and innovation. It connects people, enables access to vast knowledge and facilities businesses and services worldwide.
Keeping this in view the Department of Urdu in inaugurating the computer lab which has been a long pending demand of the scholars and students to provide them a vibrant space where they can learn by using various technological applications, which is desperately needed.”
In the end Dr. Mushtaq Haider offered a vote of thanks to all the distinguished guest and participants for gracing the occasion by their solemn presence. Dr. Muhammad Younis Thoker conducted the proceedings of the program.
