Srinagar 29 July (KNB): Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan on Thursday chaired the 26th Board of Directors (BoDs) meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) at Civil Secretariat.
As per a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, the meeting was attended by Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda; Managing Director, JKWDC, Dr. Naheed Soz; representatives of Finance, Planning and other allied departments besides representatives of central government corporations like National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC), National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation(NHFDC) and National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC) participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
The BoDs discussed activities, Action Taken Reports and approval and adoption of financial accounts-cum-draft balance sheet for the year 2020-21 besides detailed deliberations were held on the progress and achievements of the corporation.
Advisor Farooq Khan, who is also the Chairman of the corporation while speaking during the meeting highlighted the role of JKWDC in uplifting the economic conditions of the women folk and asked the management of the corporation to create plenteous and gainful employment opportunities for them and make them self sufficient.
The Chairman asked the management of JKWDC for identification and promotion of more women entrepreneurs, organizing awareness camps and identifying women for activities which make them more empowered.
Advisor Khan stressed upon the management of the corporation to give priority to remote and far-flung areas and make the populace of these areas aware about different schemes of the corporation so that they take due benefits of these schemes and become self reliable.
After detailed deliberations, several important decisions were taken by the Board for better management of the affairs of the Corporation.
The board decided to engage with the management of Mata Vishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) regarding supply of Jute Prashad Bags with priority on locally made bags.
The Board also decided to explore the possibilities of establishing permanent office at Jammu besides the construction work at office complex Srinagar should be completed at the earliest and the corporation should function from there.
Furthermore, the BoDs also directed the corporation to advertise the posts as per the recruitment rules and also provide wages to the consolidated employees as per the Minimum Wages Act.
The board also decided to appoint a dedicated company secretary for the corporation.
During the meeting, MD JKWDC gave a detailed overview of the corporation and the progress achieved by the corporation on implementation of various ongoing schemes. (KNB)
