Bandipora, Nov 24(KNB): The Indian National Congress on Monday accelerated its Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan in Jammu & Kashmir, initiating extensive consultations with workers to identify new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents as part of a larger organisational restructuring effort.

Addressing media in Bandipora, AICC Observer said the campaign aims to rebuild the party from the grassroots by engaging directly with cadres and incorporating their feedback in leadership selection.

He said the party intends to identify district-level leaders who “work closely with Congress workers, understand Congress ideology, and uphold democratic and constitutional values.”

Responding to former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s recent remarks on BJP’s preparations for West Bengal, Lamba stated that if Azad truly had sympathy for the Congress, he should “return, join the organisation and contribute to strengthening it at the ground level.”

He added that once a suitable leader is identified, the party high command will be advised to appoint them as DCC president “so that the organisation is not only energised but its ideological foundation is also reinforced.”

He was accompanied by senior party leaders including Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Shri Krishan Chander Baghat, Shri Ricky Dalotra and JKPCC District President Mushtaq Ahmad Tantry.

Notably, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge recently approved the appointment of 21 observers for J&K, along with similar teams for Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh, to supervise the selection of district presidents under the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan.

The observers have been tasked with holding grassroots interactions, gathering suggestions from workers and communicating district-level aspirations to the central leadership.

The Bandipora meeting, according to party leaders, sought to encourage greater involvement from local workers as the organisation prepares for a major structural reshaping across Jammu & Kashmir.(KNB)
