Compelete shutdown in Shopian on fourth straight day, Internet suspended

Shopian, Jan15(KNB):Complete shutdown being  observed in Shopian district in southern Kashmir on fourth straight day today to mourn the killings of Al Badr commander Zeenat ul Islam and his aide in a gunfight with the forces.

As per reports, all shops and other commercial establishments are closed in the district while a thin movement of traffic was witnessed on the roads.

Earlier, Zeenat-ul-Islam and his aide Shakeel Ahmad were shot dead by the forces in a brief shootout in Yaripora area of the neighbouring Kulgam district on Saturday evening.

Moreover, huge mass of people participated in the funeral prayers of Zeenat and Shakeel on Sunday at their native villages of Sugan and Chillipora respectively.

Meanwhile, Internet continues to remain suspended in Shopian district for fourth straight day. The service was suspended soon after the news of Islam’s killing started doing the rounds on Saturday evening.(KNB)
