Srinagar 20 January (KNB): The temperature across the Kashmir valley continues to remain under sub-zero. The mercury settling at -6.0° Celsius in Srinagar on Tuesday night shows a bit of relief after -7.0° Celsius recorded on Monday night.
After the heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley on this month’s 5th, the mercury had dipped to lowest during one of the nights in Srinagar at -8.4° Celsius, making it the coldest night in Srinagar in nearly three decades. The dip in temperature last night, however, has given a bit of relief to the people of Srinagar, which was recorded at -6.0° Celsius.
According to the MeT department, the dry weather in Kashmir will remain till next day and the wet spell, mostly snowfall, will be observed from the 22nd of this month’s evening till 24th of January.
However, the MeT had predicted earlier that another Western Disturbance is most likely going to affect J&K from 22nd evening to 24th’s night with main activity on 23rd to 24th.
Pertinent to mention that the temperature across the Union Territories of Kashmir and Ladakh was recorded as;
Srinagar -6.0°C, Qazigund -8.7°C, Pahalgam 8.3°C, Kupwara -5.8°C, Kokernag -7.9°C, Gulmarg -6.5°C, Anantnag -8.6°C, Bandipora -4.0°C, Sopore -4.2°C, Budgam -6.3°C, Shopian -10.3°C, Pulwama -7.8°C Kulgam -7.6°C, Leh -13.1°C, Kargil -19.2°C and Dras -25.8°. (KNB)
