Thousands attend slain militants funeral at Kulgam

Srinagar, Jan 10 (KNB): The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for Valley wide shutdown on Saturday 13th January against the killing of a youth Khalid Ahmad Dar who fell to the bullets after government forces retain to firing to disperse the protestors in Kulgam on Tuesday.

In a statement issued here the JRL asked the people to observe complete shutdown on Saturday to register strong protest against innocent killing of youth.

Pertinently, expressing deep anguish over the killing of a Khalid Hussain the Chief Minister Mehbooba has directed the district administration to conduct a probe to know the reasons of the killing and come up with a report at the earliest.

Meanwhile, thousands of people Wednesday participated in the funeral prayers of slain Hizb militant Farhan Wani at his ancestral villages in Kulgam.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Bureau Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani addressed the gathering telephonic. Amid pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans, Farhan was buried at his ancestral village.

Farhan was killed during a gunbattle with the state government forces on Tuesday in Larnoo forest area of Kokernag in district Anantnag. (KNB)
