Anantnag 26 April (KNB): A civilian who was earlier injured after suspected militants travelling in a car, fired upon a road opening party comprising police and Central Reserve Police Force succumbed to his injuries in Anantnag Hospital.
Reports reached KNB that “Shakeeb Shabir was hit when suspected militants attacked on CRPF patrolling party, However, Police confirmed that Shabir, aged around 25 years, succumbed to his bullet injuries.
“Militants traveling in a Santro car fired upon the ROP of Police and 116 Bn of CRPF at Lazibal Chowk, Anantnag in which a civilian identified as Shakeeb Shabir of Shopian was injured,” a police spokesperson earlier said and added at the site of incident 4 empty cartridges recovered . Alert about the car has been sounded.
He added that a high alert was sounded and a massive manhunt was launched to trace the car and the attackers.
The incident comes a day after a political worker was shot dead in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. (KNB)
