Srinagar 20 November (KNB): Scores of residents of the town Buchpora and it’s adjoining localities were shocked after going through amount stated in their electricity bills for the month of October 2020.
Residents of the town said that both load agreements and bill amount has been raised without seeking the consent of the consumers.
Kashmir News Bureau reports revealed that Sarfi Colony, Gulberg Colony, Illahi Bagh, Firdous colony, Proper Buchpora and many other areas have witnessed tremendous increase in the amount of electric bills.
A resident stated that from 1 KW to 1.25 KW has been raised in number of cases besides it has also been raised from 1.25 to 1.75 KW or more for others, while as the bill amount has seen increase by Rupees three hundred to four hundred per bill.
They further stated that many consumers, who were paying 700 to 800 per month, now have to pay Rs 1100 to 1200 per month.
The residents of the aforementioned areas, through the President Masjid (Mosque) Committee have appealed to the Power Development Department (PDD) that they should revisit their decision, especially in these tough times of economic downslide and ragging global pandemic of Coronavirus.
Committee further stated that they hope the authorities in this matter would evolve a realistic and compassionate view. (KNB)
