Srinagar, November 16 (KNB): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday announced a major breakthrough in the Red Fort area car bomb blast case with the arrest of a Kashmiri man who allegedly conspired with the suicide bomber responsible for the attack that killed 10 civilians and injured around 25 others.
According to an NIA statement, Amir Rashid Ali—a resident of Samboora, Pampore—was arrested in Delhi after the agency launched an extensive search operation upon taking over the case from Delhi Police. The car used in the explosion was registered under his name.
Investigators have found that Amir worked closely with the suspected suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi, to execute the attack. Amir had travelled to Delhi to help procure the vehicle that was later turned into a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The NIA has forensically confirmed that the deceased driver of the explosive-laden car was Umar Un Nabi, a Pulwama resident and Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University, Faridabad.
The agency has also seized another vehicle owned by Umar, which is being examined for additional evidence. So far, 73 witnesses—including injured victims—have been examined in connection with the November 10 blast.
The NIA said it is working closely with Delhi Police, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and other security agencies to pursue multiple leads and uncover the wider conspiracy behind the bombing under case number RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.(KNB)
