Bandipora 7 December (KNB): Voters who are supposed be enrolled in a particular ward of Block Aloosa A for District Development Council (DDC) elections, are showing up in a different ward creating a confusing atmosphere among the voters in Bandipora.
As per Kashmir News Bureau reports several voters who went to cast their vote, expecting their names to be enlisted in ward 9 as they had registered, were confused when their names didn’t show up in the list.
“I didn’t find name on the voter list of ward no. 9 and later I found my name in the list of ward no. 6, this is confusing,” a voter said.
Similarly, several others who went to cast their voters in ward no. 8 as they had registered their names in the ward only, got disappointed and later realised their names were on the voters list of ward no. 9.
“Such changes in the voters list has created a confusing atmosphere here, we don’t understand how such mistakes can happed,” another voter said.
After the delimitation there are total 9 wards in Block Aloosa A of Bandipora.
On the other hand, voters have also complained about the mismanagement to handle the process of DDC elections which being held at Block Aloosa A.
A voter said, “We are not able to find ward number 9 and 8, officials are telling us to go here and there but no one is really helping us to locate these wards.”
“What is the government doing? What are the officials doing? Are they just sitting in their offices,” he questioned.
He added, “It is so unfortunate that we are not able to cast our votes, we had high hopes from the government and are here to vote so that development really takes place, but all in all we are just disappointed.“
The voter further said that I tried to contact DC Bandipora several times, but he didn’t respond to my calls, neither did anyone from his office.
While speaking to Kashmir News Bureau DC Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmad said that the voters are supposed to check their names in the electoral roll and get it verified.
He said, “This has happened before, we have come across the same issue in Panchayat elections before, this is resolvable.”
“Let me look into the matter and see if it’s a major or minor issue, then accordingly we’ll sort it out,” he assured.
Dr. Owais further said that the voters who are facing this issue should contact us so that we can rectify the problem.
He added, “We provide dates for the voters to check their names on the lists and if they had done that, we would have surely resolved this issue before the polling day.” (KNB)
