Black Fungus: Central Govt Assigns Plus 23,000 Vials of Amphotericin-B to States, UTs

Srinagar 22 May (KNB) Amid the rising cases of Black Fungus in different states of India, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers D.V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday said that 23,680 additional vials of Amphotericin-B have assigned for States and UTs.  

Gowda said on his twitter handle that after a detailed review of rising number of cases of Mucormycosis in various states, a total of 23680 additional vials of Amphotericin-B have been allocated to all States/UTs today.

“The allocation has been made based on total number of patients which is approximately 8848 across (the) country,” Gowda added in his tweet. 

However, the list attached to Gowda’s tweets showed the highest number of Black Fungus cases are currently present in the state of Gujarat (2281), followed by Maharashtra (2000). Whereas Tripura and West Bengal each show only one case of fungal infection so far, as per the official list. (KNB)
