“Big loss to Jammu and Kashmir” Condolences pour in after Iqbal Khanday demise

Srinagar 19 Nov (KNB): On the Death of Former Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary Muhammad Iqbal Khanday , many officials and politicians presented their condolences and shared their sadness on the unfortunate and demise.




While expressing grief on the Khanday’s death, Omar Abdulallah took to tweeter and said, ” Sorry to hear about the demise of Iqbal Khanday Sb. He was Chief Secretary in J&K & worked with me when I had the privilege of heading the government. My heartfelt condolences to his family & loved ones. Allah Jannat naseeb karey.”

Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone tweeted, “I got my first coaching in business rules in governance from Iqbal Khanday sahib. He sat with me and allayed my apprehensions. Watched him in cabinet amongst 2 dozen politicians—unwavering, at times puzzled look— and aloof in the midst when he wanted to. Truly distinctive style.”

Yet in another tweet by Commissioner Transport, Shesh Paul Vaid said, “Sad to know about untimely demise of Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, IAS former Chief Secretary, J&K. He was not only a dignified, respected senior officer but always acted as a guide and elder brother. He was a good human being, may God give his family strength in this time of grief.”

Khanday held many positions in the state government before making it to the top . He was a Deputy Commissioner, a director and then headed planning – for a long time, tourism, health, home, finance, R&B, besides heading the IMPA.




However in various positions of his career He was also principal secretary to the former chief minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
