Bharat’: Salman Khan opens up about his ‘challenging’ role in the film

May, 03: Come Eid 2019, fans of superstar Salman Khan will be in for a treat with his film ‘Bharat’ hitting screens nationwide. Featuring an ensemble cast including Katrina KaifDisha PataniSunil Grover, Tabu among many others, director Ali Abbas Zafar is set to enthral the audience with this film centring around the journey of a man through six decades.

The director and his leading stars – Salman and Katrina, sat down for a chat on social media and answered some questions from fans.

During the chat, Salman was quizzed about the challenges of playing this role that saw his character age through the course of the film. He said, “It was very challenging for me as I am in an age group that I neither fit in that age group (old age) nor the younger age group. And the age group in which I am, I don’t consider it as my age group. I am how I am and have worked that way in the film.”

Katrina admitted it was “challenging” for her to play her character and don different looks in the film. She said, “You are going to see the change in the character’s age. The important thing was to get the body language right for the older portion, and to see the mindset of that age.”

The two also addressed Priyanka Chopra’s sudden exit from the film, owing to her marriage to Nick Jonas. Saying she had two months to prepare for the role, Kat added that once they nailed the physicality and hair, the other aspects of her character fell into place.

Salman, on the other hand, cut in and stated, “Priyanka didn’t give us much time.”

The two also opened up on their experience working with comedian Sunil Grover. Calling him one of the “most talented people” he has come across, Salman said, “Bechara! Sunil is one of the most talented actors I have seen so far. He doesn’t do mimicry, he just gets into the character and he plays that character. So if you have seen in Gutthi, in Dr Mashoor Gulati or the way he imitates Mr Bachchan or Dharam Ji (Dharmendra), he is not hitting below the belt, he is actually a very big fan of theirs. He plays their characters to the T. He is one of the most talented people that I have ever come across.”

Katrina also added in saying that Sunil is an incredibly knowledgeable person to work with and that anyone can talk to him on a varied range of topics.
