B.tech Student among Two Militants, Soldier Killed In Sopore Gunfight

Baramulla 03 August (KNB): Two militants and an Armyman were killed in a gun battle that broke out in Dursu area of Sopore of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.

According to reports reached to Kashmir News Bureau, two militants hiding in a residential house in village at Sopore’s Drusoo fired in search operation team, triggering gunfight.

Security forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation in Drusoo area of Sopore at around 9:15 am after receiving information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.

“Army soldier killed in gunfight identified as Ranjeet Kumar,” he said.

The slain militants were identified as Riyaz Ahmad Dar of Naseerabad, Sopore and Khurshid Ahmad Malik of Arabal Pulwama.

Earlier, a family of Khursheed made emotional appeal urges him to return home.

Meanwhile, all educational institutes have been closed in Kupwara where two militants were killed in an encounter on Thursday. Two civilians were also injured in the security forces firing on protesters in the area.
Internet services have been suspended in the area (KNB)
