Srinagar 16 November (KNB): Disaster Management Authority in Kashmir issues an avalanche warning in four districts of the valley, as the higher reaches received moderate to heavy snowfall.
Authorities issued a medium danger avalanche warning for districts Kupwara and Bandipora and low danger avalanche warning for Baramulla and Ganderbal districts of Kashmir.
Officials stated that medium danger avalanche warning exist for the higher reaches of Kupwara and Bandipora districts, whereas the higher reaches of Baramulla and Ganderbal districts are prone to low danger avalanches.
People living in these avalanche prone areas are advised to take precautionary measures and not to venture out in the avalanche prone areas, officials emphasised.
Officials added that the warning was issued in view of snowfall which started on Saturday and continued till Monday morning.
Pertinently, due to overnight snowfall around Jawahar Tunnel, the vehicular traffic on the 270 Km long NH44 between Jammu and Srinagar has been suspended since wee hours today. (KNB)
