Asifa Case: JCCI not to support Jammu Bandh, KEA hails decision

Srinagar, April 10 (KNB): In a positive development, Jammu Chamber and Commerce of Industries (JCCI) on Tuesday declined to support Jammu bandh call of April 11 given by Jammu Bar Association against Crime Branch probe in Asifa’s case. The Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) has welcomed the decision of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to distance itself from communal forces, who have called “pro-rapist bandh” in the region tomorrow.
President, CCI Jammu, Rakesh Gupta said that they were not consulted by the Jammu Bar regarding the issues raised by them.

“We have decided not to support Bar Association’s Jammu Bandh call. It has no relevance when a High Court judge is monitoring Crime Branch investigation on day-to-day basis. Those committed crime should be put behind the bars. We don’t consider individuals with religious identity. We don’t support criminals,” Gupta said.

Meanwhile, KEA hailing the decision of CCI said, “they have publicly refused to support the call of fringe elements to observe Jammu bandh in solidarity with the rapists, who raped and murdered an eight-year-old girl.”
