Srinagar 13 September (KNB): Indian Army on Monday conducted medical camps for remote villages of Machil sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, officials said that locals from border villages of Machhal Valley did not have access to basic dental care. Realising the importance of dental care and hygiene Sarpanch and residents from border villages of Machhal approached Army Camp located at Thalli for assistance in providing dental care.
Officials said that the Team Thalli organised a dental camp at Sahi Memorial Hospital, Machhal in coordination with civil administration today.
The aim of the camp was to administer basic dental care to the people from these villages. The camp was widely advertised in local groups, media and through announcements for a week prior to the conduct.
“One Army Dental Doctor attended approximately 100 people. Free dental check up was given to the people and a class was also conducted on dental care,” officials said.
Officials also said that a Medical Camp was also organised in the sector, in which Four Army Doctors attended more than 250 people of the adjoining villages.
“Free medicines were distributed to the people and a class was also conducted on nutrition deficiency in children and women,” officials said.
People were also educated on Covid-19, officials said, adding that the villagers appreciated the efforts of Indian Army and were grateful for the contribution of the Army in making Kashmir healthy and prosperous. (KNB)
