Army negligence: 14,000 trout fish found dead in farm 

Kupwara, Feb 02 (KNB): In a bizarre kind of its incident over 14,000 trout fish were found dead at farm in Langate area of north Kashmir where some chemical was sprayed into the Mawar nallah that feeds the fish farm located at Katlery following the negligence of Army Camp located at Nawgam.. The authorities have also issued an advisory asking people of at least 24 villages not to consume water from the stream till it is cleaned. The Army officers apologized over the incident and ensured that such incidents will be avoided in the future. 
Reports reaching KNB stated MLA Langate Er. Rasheed monitored throughout day restoration of water supply in Mawer and adjoining areas after the entire drinking water was contaminated due to some poisonous chemical which got mixed with water flowing from Mawer Nallah due to negligence of Army Camp located at Nawgam.
The reports said that about 14,000 trout fish died because of the poison which army claims to be a chemical called Phenyl Formate (C7H6O2) a kind of disinfectant was sprayed into the Mawar nallah.
An official said that the police are investigating the incident and water samples from the Mawar stream have been sent for necessary testing to determine the cause of the deaths.Some dead fish weighed more than two kilograms. (KNB)
