Srinagar, July 27(KNB): A group of armed personnel from Pakistan crossed the Line of Control (LOC) in the Machhal Sector, taking advantage of poor weather conditions and visibility, the intruders opened fire on a forward Indian Army post from close proximity, but alert troops responded swiftly, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire, Army officials said
According to official, one Pakistani intruder was killed, and weapons, ammunition, and war-like stores were recovered from the site. The identity and affiliation of the deceased are being ascertained.
In the intense firefight, two Indian soldiers suffered serious injuries and were promptly evacuated to the Base Hospital in Srinagar and Unfortunately, one of the solider succumbed to his injuries, while the other is receiving treatment and is reported to be stable.(KNB)
