Srinagar 23 November (KNB): Army and Border Security Forces (BSF) engaged in a brief gunfight after suspicious movement was observed in Machil sector, along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.
The joint forces fired several round last night after observing the suspicious movement, officials said.
“BSF observed some movement on the intervening night of 22 and 23 November. The soldiers fired on the suspicious movement and there was late retaliation,” Deputy Inspector General of BSF R Muthu Krishnan said.
“Due to heavy snowfall, the searches could not be carried. It will be resumed as soon,” he added.
Pertinently, on 8th November, four soldiers of Army and BSF including an army officer along with three militants were killed as the security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Machil Sector along the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Kashmir, officials said. (KNB)
