Army conducts workshop on hearing and speech therapy

Srinagar, Jan 18 (KNB): With the motive to impart value education to specially-abled children of the school for Deaf and Dumb, Rambagh, Srinagar and help them in achieving self reliance, the Army has taken an initiative under Sadhbhavana program by establishing smart class room equipped with state of the art equipment to include with Group Speech and Hearing Aid System, Braille Equipments, Video Projection System, Smart Board, Computer and its Peripherals.

A two days workshop will be conducted at the school for teachers and students to understand the handling of equipment to achieve efficient utilisation of the equipments for the benefit of students. One Audiologist and Technical Engineer from ‘Educom Smart Board System’ will be conducting the training sessions.

This holistic approach towards the rehabilitation of these specially-abled children will equip students with skills to compete with normal students at par. The step taken by the Indian Army has widely been appreciated by the students, school staff and parents. Mrs Vennela Ravi, w/o Maj Gen R Ravi, GOC, Headquarter 31 Sub Area was the Chief Guest for the day. She interacted with students and the staff on the benefits, this facility will bring to the future needs of the school. Shameema Noor, Principal of School for Deaf and Dumb, Rambagh praised the efforts of Chinar Corps for assisting the school in its endeavor to provide these specially-abled children a better future and confidence to be a winner.
