Says ‘Dy Mayor herself has not paid any heed towards the concerns of the people she represents’
Jammu 24 October (KNB): Apni Party General Secretary Vikram Malhotra today expressed his concern over the negligence of one of the oldest Mohalla in Jammu district, which lacks basic amenities even as ward number-01 belongs to Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
“The BJP Corporators especially Deputy Mayor of Jammu have failed to provide basic facilities for the livelihood of people of Old City which is a heritage for Dogra Society,” said Vikram Malhotra.
Apni Party General Secretary said that the residential areas in the surrounding areas of the Mubarak Mandi Palace/ Complex being ignored as if it does not come under the Municipal Corporation Jammu.
“The roads, lanes and drains are in worst condition and there is a lack of cleanliness,” he said.
“The nallah (canal) at Mohalla Chowgan Salathia in Panjtirthi is one of the examples where people suffer because of official apathy even as ward number 1 belongs to the Deputy Mayor,” Malhotra said.
Malhotra expressed his shock over how the officials in Municipality and BJP representatives from the locality can turn blind eyes towards the suffering of the people.
“I am told that a child has fallen into a nallah and still has not been covered by the Municipality despite repeated reminders given to them by the locals and the Dy Mayor herself has not paid any heed towards the concerns of the people she represents,” he said.
The Apni Party’s General Secretary said that if this is the condition of one of the Oldest Mohalla of Jammu District, the condition of rural areas could be imagined under the BJP rule.
He said, “The BJP should learn that befooling people will not serve their purpose for long. People have known the hollow slogans and they are completely exposed before the people”.
The resentment among the people against the BJP for taking Jammu for granted will cost them heavily in coming assembly polls.
“Apni Party believes in what it promises to the people. We will work alongside with the people for the overall development of Jammu City. We will not allow the crumbling of Dogra Heritage, its culture and tradition,” said Malhotra.
Earlier, Malhotra appraised the people of ward-01, the problem being faced by them and hoped that their issues will be redressed.
The Apni Party’s General Secretary assured them that their issues would be highlighted before the concerned authorities for their early redressal.
