Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNB): Braving cold, thousands of people Saturday thronged the shrine of revered shine of Hazrat Peer Dastgeer Sahib (RA) at Khanar Srinagar on the eve its annual Urs observed on 11th of Rabi ul Sani.
With massive gatherings at the saint’s shrine in Khanyar Srinagar, Kashmir special nightlong prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Dastgeer Sahib (RA) were offered, marked by the display of the saint’s relics.
The gathering in Khanyar Srinagar was the largest in the valley which observes the occasion with high devotion and respect for eleven days every year according to the Hijri calendar.
In her message, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti while greeting people on the annual Urs of Peer Dastageer Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) Sahib said in the teachings and practices of Hazrat Peer Dastageer (RA) Sahib lies the way ahead to get out of the troubles and tribulations of present times.
On the annual Urs of Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema chief, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq paid tributes to one of the top Islamic missionary and spiritual saint saying he had dedicated his life for Islam and attracted people toward the peaceful religion by spreading the true message of Islam and by playing the role of a social reformer.
