Srinagar, May 14(KNB): In the ongoing YSS inter District UT level cricket tournament, Anantnag will lock horns with Baramulla on Sunday in the finale of the sports extravaganza at Kashmir University ground here.
The tournament is being played on league cum knockout basis. 19 teams from 19 districts of the UT are participating in the mega tourney.
At Kashmir University ground, the first scheduled semifinal was played between Anantnag and Srinagar. Anantnag after winning the toss elected to bat first and kept a target of 156 runs to City boys. Trying very hard to chase the target, the City boys could not find the way and collapsed on 133 runs.
Imtiyaz Ahmad and Aasif Rasool were among the top scorers for the team. Shakir scored 39 runs while Aasif contributed 35 runs to the aggregate.
Aadil Bashir was the pick of the bowlers for City boys, he bagged 2 wickets while Mudasir and Umar on the other end ably supported him by bowling a tight line, and in the ensuing process duo claimed 2 wickets.
In another match between Bandipora and Baramulla which was played at SP College ground, Baramullah after winning the toss elected to bat first.
It was Tanveer from Baramulla side who helped in dominating the opponent team by scoring 46 runs and Baramullah set a decent total of 132 all-out in 18.2 overs. Bandipora couldn’t make hold and lost wickets at regular intervals. Bandiporian’s were all out only at 61 runs on board in 16th over. Tanveer was declared man of the match for his magnificent 46 runs and 2 wickets contribution.
Both (Anantnag and Baramullah) teams will face each other in a do-or-die match on Sunday at KU ground. The game is a must-win for both teams.
