Jammu, July 3 (KNB): The Amarnath Yatra has crossed the 74,000 mark, with 74,696 pilgrims visiting the holy cave shrine in the first four days of the yatra. On the fourth day, 22,715 pilgrims had darshan of the ice lingam at the Amarnath cave.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 5,725 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu for the Kashmir valley to perform the pilgrimage. The batch includes 4,481 men, 1,034 women, 25 children, 173 sadhus, and 12 sadhvies.
Stringent security arrangements are in place, with thousands of security personnel deployed along the route and aerial surveillance being carried out. Over 125 free langars have been established by philanthropist organizations to serve the pilgrims.
The 52-day long Amarnath Ji Yatra will conclude on August 19, coinciding with Shravan Poornima and Raksha Bandhan. Last year, over 4.5 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine.(KNB)
