Kulgam, Jan 12(KNB):Three militants were killed in an encounter that broke out in Katapora village of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
As per the reports, the slain millitants killed in Katpora gunfight are Identified as Zeenat ul Islam from Sugan Shopian, Shakeel dar from chillipora shopian while the identity of third militant is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, intense clashes erupted near the site of the gunfight, youth took to streets and pelted the forces with stones near the site of a gunfight in Katapora area while the forces responded by firing tear gas shells, triggering further clashes.
Earlier, a joint team of army and SOG Kulgam launched cordon and search operation in the area following inputs about the presence of militants.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
Moreover, authorities have suspended the Internet service in twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam.(KNB)
