Kupwara: Akashvaani Srinagar organized a Pahari Music show on the banks of river Kishenganga at LoC Keran in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday july 28 to commemorate India’s G-20 presidency.
The show featured performances by renowned pahari singers of district Kupwara.
The event was presided over by Maqsood Ahmed, renowned broadcaster and editor ‘Shaherbeen’ a well-known current affairs program of All India Radio Srinagar, while GOC 28 Div Maj Gen Girish Kalia was present as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Maqsood Ahmed shared insights about the event. He highlighted the efforts of Akashvani Srinagar to engage and inform the people about the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating our nation’s freedom struggle and India’s G-20 presidency.
GOC, Garish Kalia in his speech mentioned the efforts of Army in facilitating cultural and tourism activities in border areas like Keran.
Director General Survey & Land Records, Abdul Hafeez Masoodi who belongs to the same area, in his speech, highlighted the background of the Keran village.
The audience was captivated by the scintillating performances of the eminent musicians.Students from local schools also performed dance and singing during the show.
People from otherside of LoC also got engaged and enjoyed the show.
The pahari variety show witnessed participation of various dignitaries including renowned Poet Sagar Pandit; GOC, Garish Kalia; Brigade Commander, NR Kulkarni, Public Orator, Poet & DG Survey & Land Records, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Masoodi; District Information Officer Kupwara, Iftakhar Naseem; Retired Col. Dev Anand, Retired Principal, Dr. Jahangir Danish, Social Worker/Poet, Iftakhar Qureshi; Chairman Pahari Cultural Club Karnah, Rasheed Lone and Artists of Pahari Cultural Club Karnah.
Later, the artists and student performers were awarded with the gifts to appreciate their talent.
