After Cabinet Reshuffle, New Ministers Take Charge Today

Srinagar 8 July (KNB): A day after first reshuffle in the Council of Ministers by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since assuming charge for the second term in 2019, the Ministers on Thursday took charge of their assignments.

The official statements from the ministries in this regard said that Ajay Bhatt took over as Raksha Rajya Mantri today and after assuming charge, he called on Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh at his office in South Block. Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and other senior officials of Ministry of Defence received Ajay Bhatt and welcomed him into his office.

In a tweet, Ajay Bhatt thanked PM Narendra Modi for giving him the responsibility, saying that he will strive to build the ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ of the 21st century.

Ajay Bhatt is a Member of Parliament from Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar constituency, Uttarakhand. He is the member of Standing Committee on Defence; Consultative Committee, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Committee on Subordinate Legislation; Joint Committee on the Personal Data Protection Bill 2019 and Committee on Estimates.

He had, earlier, served as Cabinet Minister in Uttarakhand government, holding portfolios such as Parliamentary Affairs, Health and Disaster Management. He was also the Leader of Opposition in Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.

Kiren Rijiju assumed charge as Minister of Law and Justice in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry. Speaking with the media on the occasion, the Minister said, “ It is a huge responsibility for me to function as a Minister for Law & Justice. Fulfilling public expectations will be my priority and I will always try to keep transparency.

Before taking charge as Minister of Law & Justice, Rijiju was Minister of State(I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports from May 2019 to July, 2021 and Minister of State of Minority Affairs from May 2014 to May 2019.

G.Kishan Reddy took charge as Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) along with Union Minister of State B.L.Verma this afternoon.

While speaking to media after taking charge, Reddy said that kind of transformation that took place in the North-Eastern Region in the last seven years in all spheres of life under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is both incredible and unprecedented.

He said, under the guidance of PM Modi, he will try to complete all the pending projects in the region within stipulated timeframe. He also thanked the former DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, present on the occasion for his stellar role in the overall development of the North Eastern Region.

Union Minister of State for DoNER, B.L.Verma said that the whole country is aware of the kind of development that took place in the North Eastern Region under Prime Minister, particularly in the area of connectivity.

He said that under the guidance of Reddy and with the help of Senior officials, the Ministry of DoNER will scale new heights in coming years. He said that he will make all efforts to deliver on the responsibilities placed on him by the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Secretary DoNER Dr Inder Jit Singh and senior officials welcomed the Ministers in the Ministry and made a brief presentation.

Danve Raosaheb Dadarao took over as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Mines today. In addition to Coal and Mines, he has also been assigned the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi extended his best wishes to Danve Raosaheb Dadarao on assuming charge. Anil Kumar Jain Secretary Coal, Alok Tandon, Secretary Mines, and Senior officers of both the Ministries were present on this occasion.

Mansukh Mandaviya took charge as the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare today. Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar took charge as the Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare.

They were received by senior officers of the ministry including Rajesh Bhushan, Health Secretary, Vandana Gurnani, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, NHM (MoHFW), Dr Manohar Agnani, Additional Secretary (Health), Vikash Sheel, Additional Secretary (Health), Alok Saxena, Additional Secretary, Dr. Sunil Kumar, DGHS (MoHFW), Arun Singhal CEO, FSSA and other key officials.

Dr. Loganathan Murugan today assumed charge as Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting in the presence of Minister of I&B Anurag Thakur.

Speaking with the media on the occasion, Dr. Murugan thanked PM Narendra Modi for giving him the opportunity to serve as Minister of State for I&B. He added that he shall perform his duties with sincerity. The Minister of State also thanked the PM for giving adequate representation of people of Tamil Nadu in his Cabinet.

Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Environment & Forests Bhupendra Yadav took charge of his office in the Ministry of Labour and Employment today. Yadav is a Member of the Rajya Sabha, representing the state of Rajasthan. He is an expert on parliament select committees. He was Chairman of the Joint Committee on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2015. At present, he is Chairman of Rajya Sabha Select Committee on Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2019.

Minister of State for Labour & Employment and Petroleum & Natural Gas Rameswar Teli also took charge of the office of MoS Labour and Employment today. He was earlier Minister of State for Food Processing Industries. He is a Lok Sabha MP from Dibrugarh, Assam.

Union Minister Narayan Tatu Rane today assumed charge of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He was formerly Chief Minister of Maharashtra and has also served as a Cabinet Minister for Industry, Port, Employment and Selfemployment in the Government of Maharashtra. He has been in public service across different capacities for over 35 years.

Danve Raosaheb Dadarao took over as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Mines today. In addition to Coal and Mines, he has also been assigned the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways.

Raj Kumar Singh today assumed charge as Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy .

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for giving the responsibility, R.K. Singh said that the Prime Minister has shown great confidence and we will live upto that.

In his brief interaction with the media after assuming charge, Singh further added that we have achieved targets of electrification set by the Prime Minister well before the schedule and will strive to ensure that the benefits of the power and energy sector reach the common man.

Hardeep Singh Puri today took over the charge of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas as the Cabinet Minister. Rameswar Teli took charge as the minister of state in the ministry. Dharmendra Pradhan, who was holding the charge before the cabinet reshuffle, was also present on the occasion.

Puri on the occasion said that “Today, I feel honoured by the trust reposed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Jee who has made me the Cabinet Minister of this important ministry. Dharmendra Pradhan Jee’s are big shoes to fill.”

Ramchandra Prasad Singh today took charge as Steel Minister at Udyog Bhawan here. The Minister of state for Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste welcomed the Cabinet Minister.

After taking charge of the Steel Ministry, Ramchandra Prasad Singh said that the Steel Ministry is to play a vital role as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of achieving the $5 trillion-dollar economy target by 2024. Ramchandra Prasad Singh also took a meeting with the officials of the Ministry.
Singh represents Bihar in Rajya Sabha and is a former IAS officer.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal today took charge of the Ministry of Textiles from the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani. The Minister of State for Textiles, Darshana Vikram Jardosh also took charge, today.

Addressing the media after taking charge, Piyush Goyal thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving him this opportunity. Goyal, praising his predecessor, Smriti Irani said that she has done lots of good work in the Ministry of Textiles during her tenure and as a result, its profile has increased manifold in recent years.

The Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants this sector to be strong and become an even bigger support for the economy. He further added that the Prime Minister envisions a synergy between Commerce and Industry and Textiles sectors and that is perhaps the reason that he has been given the charge of this ministry also.

Anupriya Patel took over the charge as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry today.

She was elected to the Lok Sabha, from the constituency of Mirzapur in the 2014 and again in 2019. She was also the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, from 2016 to 2019.
