New Delhi, November 29(KNB) – Prominent Kashmiri lawyer and President of the Kashmir Advocates’ Association (KAA) and Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar, Adv Waseem Gul, today headed the Kashmir delegation at the Bar Council of India’s grand felicitation function in honour of the newly appointed Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Mr Justice Surya Kant.
Accompanied by General Secretary Adv Adil Muneer Andrabi, Adv Waseem Gul personally presented a bouquet to the Hon’ble Chief Justice and extended heartfelt greetings on behalf of the entire legal fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The delegation’s presence at the high-profile national event highlighted the active participation and solidarity of Kashmir’s advocates with the country’s top judicial leadership.
The high-profile event, held at a Hotel Grand Lalit in the heart of New Delhi, saw the presence of Chairman and senior functionaries of the Bar Council of India, Chairpersons and representatives of various State Bar Councils, Presidents and office-bearers of major High Court Bar Associations, and several senior advocates and dignitaries from across the country.
The Jammu & Kashmir contingent’s gesture was warmly received, further strengthening the bond between the region’s bar and the apex judicial institution. The participation of the delegation, led by Adv Waseem Gul, underscored the continued commitment of the J&K’s legal community to remain actively engaged with national judicial institutions and forums despite geographical and other challenges. It also highlighted the growing role of Kashmir Advocate’s Association and Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar Kashmir (Regd.) in representing regional aspirations at the national level while reinforcing constitutional unity and the rule of law.
The Bar Council of India ceremony served as a fitting tribute to Justice Surya Kant’s illustrious career spanning the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Himachal Pradesh High Court, and the Supreme Court, and marked a new chapter under his leadership as the 53rd Chief Justice of India. For the lawyers of Jammu & Kashmir, the visit to Delhi and the opportunity to personally greet the new CJI was both an honour and a reaffirmation of their unwavering faith in India’s judicial system.
