Srinagar, 27 April (KNB): Acuber Books International has issued a public apology after facing backlash for including Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in a list of the “most evil” individuals in one of its sixth-grade general knowledge books. The controversial portrayal of the revered religious leader sparked outrage, particularly in Kashmir and beyond, prompting the publishing company to address the issue.
In their press release, Acuber Books International expressed utmost sincerity and regret for the inaccurate labeling of Ayatollah Khomeini. They acknowledged the gravity of their mistake, recognizing that such mischaracterizations not only undermine truth and justice but also perpetuate harmful stereotypes. The company extended sincere apologies to those affected by the oversight, emphasizing that it was never their intention to spread misinformation or contribute to the propagation of harmful narratives.
To rectify the situation, Acuber Books International announced immediate steps, including a thorough review and revision of their content to ensure accuracy, fairness, and sensitivity in their representations. In response to the outcry, the School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir issued a statement affirming that no objectionable content is present in textbooks prescribed by the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE). These textbooks are developed in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).-KNB
