Srinagar 21 Dec(KNB): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended Tanveer Ahmad Dar, an Assistant Engineer at the Rural Development Department in Surasyar, Chadoora, District Budgam.
According to statement issued news agency KNB that this action follows a written complaint lodged against Dar, accusing him of soliciting and receiving a ₹2000 bribe in exchange for expediting the release of pending payments.
According to the complainant, a contractor within the Rural Development Department, Dar allegedly demanded 2% of the total bill amounting to ₹90,000 each for two bills awaiting approval. Despite the contractor’s refusal to comply, Dar persisted in his demand for a bribe and ultimately settled for ₹2000. The complainant, complying with the demand, reported the matter to the ACB for necessary legal intervention.
Subsequently, based on the received complaint, the ACB registered FIR No. 25/2023 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 at PS ACB Srinagar and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, a specialized team orchestrated a successful operation, apprehending Tanveer Ahmad Dar red-handed at the BDO Office in Surasyar. Dar was caught in the act of soliciting and receiving the bribe amount of ₹2000, which was promptly recovered from his possession. He was promptly arrested and taken into legal custody.
The investigation into this case remains ongoing, ACB spokesperson said.(KNB)
