Cabinet Reshuffle Sparks Fresh Trouble in NC, Disgruntled MLAs Seek Major Changes

Sources Say 20 Legislators Held Meeting in Srinagar; Ali Mohammad Sagar to Continue in Post Till Further Orders

Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNB): Internal differences within the ruling National Conference (NC) have reportedly come to the fore, with around 20 legislators said to have held a meeting in Srinagar on Friday to discuss concerns over the functioning of the government and the party.

According to sources, the meeting was led by Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, MLA from Thanamandi, a former judge and Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India.

Sources said the legislators raised four demands, including the removal of Nasir Aslam Wani from the post of Advisor, changes in the ministerial team, and the removal of Surinder Choudhary as Deputy Chief Minister along with the withdrawal of his departmental charge.

The legislators also reportedly sought a reshuffle of the entire Cabinet, while demanding the replacement of ministers who have completed two years in office.

The reported meeting comes amid discussions over the composition of the government and the distribution of key responsibilities. However, the meeting and the demands attributed to the legislators have not been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah has issued an order stating that Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar shall continue to function as the party’s General Secretary until further orders.

The order, issued under Abdullah’s name, directs the party leadership and concerned office-bearers to take note of the decision. It does not specify any reason for the continuation of Sagar in the post.

The order comes amid reports concerning changes in the party’s organisational positions. However, the document does not mention Mubarak Gul or provide details about any earlier appointment to the post.

The party leadership has yet to publicly respond to the reported demands raised by the legislators.(KNB)
