Urges LG, Authorities to Ensure Ambulances Move Freely, Reduce Inconvenience to Commuters
Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNB): Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Itoo has raised concerns over the inconvenience caused to commuters due to convoy movement on the Srinagar–Anantnag–Kulgam–Qazigund National Highway, urging the Lieutenant Governor and concerned authorities to take practical measures to ease public hardships.
In a post on X, Itoo said frequent convoy movement was leaving commuters stranded for 15 to 30 minutes and, at times, even hours. She also pointed out that ambulances were getting stuck in traffic while students were missing classes.
Appealing to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned authorities, she called for traffic management measures that would maintain security arrangements without causing unnecessary hardship to the public.
“Security is paramount, but so is the well-being of our people. Security and compassion must go hand in hand,” Itoo said.
She stressed that public convenience and the well-being of citizens should also be taken into account while managing traffic movement, particularly to ensure that emergency vehicles can pass without delay (KNB)
