Srinagar, Oct 14 (KNB): The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against three officials of the Agriculture Department in connection with an alleged service record manipulation and fraud case before the Special Anti-Corruption Court in Srinagar.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Rashid Gojri, Helper at the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Office, Beerwah; Manzoor Ahmad Wani, Section Officer in the office of the Chief Agriculture Officer, Budgam; and Peer Abdul Rashid, a retired Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer.
According to the allegations, the accused allegedly manipulated service records by using a forged birth certificate to show Gojri’s date of birth as February 27, 1973, instead of February 27, 1975, with the intention of securing undue service benefits.
Investigators allege that Wani and Peer Abdul Rashid facilitated the entry of the incorrect date of birth in the official records, thereby helping regularise Gojri’s service on the basis of the allegedly manipulated documents.
The case was registered in 2022, and the chargesheet was filed following the completion of the investigation and receipt of the requisite sanctions.
Further proceedings in the case will be taken up by the court concerned. (KNB)
