Srinagar, 27 Aug (KNB): Amid a rise in H1N1 cases in Delhi, pulmonologist Dr. Naveed Nazir has urged people in Kashmir not to panic but to remain cautious, particularly those travelling between Delhi and Kashmir.
Speaking to Kashmir News Bureau (KNB), Dr. Naveed Nazir said, “There is no need to panic. Respiratory infections or seasonal influenza usually begin around October in Kashmir. However, since many people travel between Delhi and Kashmir, we need to take precautions.”
He advised people developing symptoms such as fever, cough, chest pain or dizziness to follow preventive measures similar to those adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic, including wearing masks and maintaining hand hygiene.
An advisory issued in the public domain has also called upon people to maintain proper hand hygiene, use masks when necessary and remain alert to symptoms of influenza, including fever, cough, sore throat, body ache and breathing difficulty.
The advisory comes amid a rise in H1N1 infections in Delhi, where 138 fresh cases were reported, taking the total number of cases this year to 2,446.
Dr. Naveed Nazir stressed that while there is no need for unnecessary alarm in Kashmir, people with symptoms should exercise caution and seek medical attention when required.
