Srinagar, Aug 6(KNB): The Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat has issued a notice to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, directing him to appear before the Assembly’s Committee on Privileges in connection with an alleged breach of privilege.
According to the notice issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the matter was referred by the Hon’ble Speaker to the Committee on Privileges for examination, investigation, and submission of a report.
The notice states that the Committee, in its meeting held on July 24 under the chairmanship of Justice Hasnain Masoodi, decided to record Para’s evidence in the matter.
The MLA was asked to appear before the Committee at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in the Committee Meeting Hall of the J&K Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Srinagar, to tender his evidence.
The communication, dated July 31, 2026, was issued by Under Secretary Shabir Ahmad Wani and copies were forwarded to the Chairman of the Committee on Privileges and the Private Secretary/OSD to the Hon’ble Speaker for information.
The notice, however, does not specify the nature or details of the alleged breach of privilege.(KNB)
