Srinagar, May 3(KNB): Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday strongly criticized the ban on Sirajul Aloom, describing the institution as “more than just a centre of learning—it’s an emotion for the people.”
Addressing the media, the PDP chief said the contributions of Sirajul Aloom cannot be overlooked and termed the decision to ban such an institution as “deeply unfortunate.” She expressed concern over the impact of the move on the local community and the region’s educational landscape.
Mufti also targeted the elected government, accusing it of maintaining what she called a “criminal silence” on the issue. “The government’s silence amounts to tacit approval,” she said, urging authorities to clarify their stand and reconsider the decision.
Her remarks come amid growing debate over the ban, with several voices raising questions about its implications and calling for a review.(KNB)
