Forces on High Alert in J&K Amid Fresh Infiltration Threat

Intelligence inputs indicate activation of Terrorist launch pads across LoC

Srinagar, Mar 6 (KNB): Security forces have heightened alertness across Jammu and Kashmir after intelligence agencies flagged possible attempts by terrorists to infiltrate from across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, official sources said on Friday.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) that surveillance inputs suggest renewed activity at several militant launch pads across the border, prompting security agencies to increase vigilance along sensitive stretches.

In response to the inputs, the Army, Border Security Force (BSF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified patrolling, surveillance and area domination exercises in key border sectors including Kupwara, Rajouri, Jammu and Samba.

Officials said intelligence assessments indicate that at least seven launch pads across the border are currently active. These locations are believed to be housing militants preparing for possible infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources further revealed that nearly 50 militants were recently shifted to these forward launch pads, while another estimated 150 are reportedly stationed at camps situated around 10 to 20 kilometres from the LoC and the International Border.

Security agencies believe that terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed may attempt to push infiltrators into the region in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, anti-militancy grid has been strengthened in vulnerable areas, with additional monitoring along traditional infiltration routes to prevent any possible attempts. Officials said the situation is under close watch and security forces have been asked to maintain a high level of preparedness. — (KNB)
