₹2 Crore Cash Reward, Govt Jobs Announced for Ranji Champions: CM Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced a cash incentive of ₹2 crore for Team J&K following their historic triumph in the Ranji Trophy final, where they defeated Karnataka on their home turf.

Congratulating the players and support staff, the Chief Minister hailed the emphatic victory as a landmark moment in Jammu and Kashmir’s cricketing history. He said the team’s performance not only showcased their talent and determination but also marked the growing stature of J&K in India’s domestic cricket circuit.

Omar Abdullah noted that the achievement has generated widespread pride across the Union Territory and is expected to inspire young and aspiring sportspersons to pursue excellence in sports.

He further announced that members of the championship-winning squad will be eligible for government appointments under the newly notified policy for outstanding sportspersons, reaffirming the government’s commitment to encouraging and rewarding sporting excellence in the region. (KNB)
