Baramulla Police Foil Drug Trafficking Attempt at Dhobiwan Crossing; One Arrested, Vehicle Seized

Baramulla 20 Feb(KNB): Baramulla Police on Thursday said that in continuation of its drive against drug trafficking, a naka checkpoint was established at Dhobiwan Crossing under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kunzer.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau that during checking, a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK01-BD-2547 approached the naka point in a suspicious manner and attempted to flee on spotting the police party. However, the alert naka party tactfully intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the occupant.

The accused has been identified as Adil Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar, resident of Hardu Aboora. During personal search, approximately 28 grams of a charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, the accused was arrested on the spot and the vehicle involved in the offence was seized.

In this regard, FIR No. 15/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kunzer, and further investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of SHO Police Station Kunzer, Inspector Shabir Ahmad.

Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appealed to the public to cooperate with police and share information related to drug trafficking and other illegal activities.(KNB)
