Baramulla, Jan 29 (KNB): A tragic road traffic accident (RTA) occurred on the National Highway near the 10 Sector Army Camp at Hyderbeigh, Pattan, on Thursday.
According to officials, a truck bearing registration number JK03E-8418, travelling from Srinagar towards Baramulla, collided head-on with an Eco vehicle (JK04H-7988) coming from Hygam towards Srinagar.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Eco vehicle, Javaid Ahmad Najar, son of Gh. Nabi Najar, resident of Hygam, Sopore, and his brother Rayees Ahmad Najar, son of Gh. Nabi Najar, resident of Hygam, Sopore, who was travelling as a passenger, sustained injuries.
Both the injured were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pattan for treatment, where doctors declared Rayees Ahmad Najar as brought dead. The injured driver, Javaid Ahmad Najar, was provided first aid and later referred to JVC Srinagar for specialised medical treatment.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pattan, and an investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. (KNB)
