Kathua January 23 (KNB): A Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist was killed on Friday in a joint counter-terror operation by a small Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) team along with the Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)in the forest area of Billawar in Kathua district, officials said.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti confirmed the successful elimination of the terrorist in the thickly forested terrain of Billawar, a region that has been the focus of intensive security operations in recent weeks.
The operation comes amid an ongoing anti-terror campaign that began earlier this month in the hilly stretches of Billawar. Forces have been tracking suspected terrorists based on credible intelligence inputs, launching search and cordon missions across Kahog, Dhanu Parole and adjoining forest belts.
According to reports, the terrorist neutralised on Friday has been identified as a Pakistani national affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed .
Casualties Among Security Forces
In earlier exchanges of fire during the prolonged encounter, one jawan was killed and eight others were injured, officials confirmed.(KNB)
