Srinagar, Dec 15(KNB): A video purportedly showing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attempting to forcibly pull at the hijab of a Muslim woman has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage and condemnation across the country.
The clip, which has been widely shared on various platforms, has drawn sharp reactions from political leaders, activists, and members of the public, who termed the act as disrespectful and unacceptable.
Reacting strongly to the video, Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his anger, calling the alleged conduct of the Bihar Chief Minister “indefensible and deeply disturbing.”
“The conduct displayed by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, publicly pulling at a Muslim woman’s burqa, is indefensible and deeply disturbing. He owes the woman and the public an unconditional apology,” Ruhullah wrote.
He further questioned Nitish Kumar’s fitness to hold constitutional office, stating that the incident reflected a lack of composure and mental clarity. “This erratic conduct is alarming and points to a man who no longer possesses the composure or mental clarity required for constitutional office. Seeking medical attention and stepping aside is necessary,” the MP added.
As the video continues to circulate, demands for an explanation and apology from the Bihar Chief Minister have grown louder. However, there was no immediate response from Nitish Kumar or his office regarding the controversy at the time of filing this report.(KNB)
