Srinagar, Dec 8 (KNB): A man passed away on Monday after reportedly leaping into the Jhelum River from the Sonwar Bridge in Srinagar, according to officials.
The individual fell into the river near the Jhula Bridge in Sonwar. Local residents initiated an immediate rescue effort and successfully pulled him out of the water. He was then quickly transported to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for emergency medical treatment.
Hospital sources confirmed that the man was brought in by a local person, but doctors at SMHS declared the victim brought dead.
The deceased man, who has not yet been identified, is estimated to be around 40 years old.
Police have registered the incident and are currently awaiting further details, including the identification of the deceased.(KNB)
